Emily Ann- 10 months

Firsts: Father's Day, (2nd) trip to the beach, VBS, Chick-Fil-A nuggets!, top tooth

Milestones: Wow! What a difference a month makes! I feel like each day you are doing something new. You started crawling very early in the month and have gained momentum ever since. You pull yourself up every chance you get and have taken a few steps with us holding both of your hands. You put *everything* you find on the floor in your mouth... which means Mommy vacuums much much more than she ever has before. You also get into everything. You love the file of papers in Mommy and Daddy's bedroom and the DVD cabinet. You also love to unload your diaper bag. I began teaching you sign language about half way through the month. You still have not gained consistency with it, but say "more" to let me know you want more food. You have also started waving when Daddy or I say "bye-bye" though you get shy around other people. You talk all the time- and your jabbers might as well be a conversation we just aren't part of.  Again, you don't talk as much until you are used to the people around you, but when you do it's hilarous!

Measurements: About 21-22 lbs., 28 inches long , size 3 diapers, 12 month clothes.

Like Mommy: You love watermelon!!!

Like Daddy: Really pretty thick hair (though yours is blond and Daddy's is brown)

Food: This month has been huge to bring consistency to your eating. You usually have cheerios and some kind of fruit for breakfast each morning. Depending on how much you eat, we also give you 4-6 oz. of formula. At lunch you have also been having fruit, veggies, snacks, and occasionally food from Mommy's plate with 6-8 oz. of formula. This month, you started eating dinner with us! For dinner, you eat 6 ounces of stage 3 baby food and some kind of fruit for dessert. You take between 8 oz. of formula right before you go to bed. You do a fabulous job of eating on your own, often getting frustrated when we don't feed you fast enough. You loved Cheerios in the beginning of the month, but are now also enjoying the Graduates Cheese Puffs as well as several fruits, veggies, and grains that you can eat with your fingers. We are still "feeding" you the sippy cup but you do a great job drinking from it. Your favorite sippy cup drink is 3/4 water and 1/4 apple juice. Because it is so hot, you share Mommy's water from her AU Tervis Tumbler, drinking from the straw.

Sleep:  You sleep from 8:30PM to 7:45-8:00 AM every night. You usually fall straight to sleep when we lay you down. When we are at home, you take a morning nap, between 45 min and 2 hrs depending on the day. In the afternoons, you usually sleep between 2 and 3 hours.

Challenges:  This month, your frustration with eating has been difficult. You often push away food or get fussy when you are getting full or tired or we are not feeding you fast enough. We are working on discipline and high chair/ booster seat manners.

Our Days: You wake up at about 8:00 each morning. You eat breakfast, which usually takes between 45 min to an hour... we are trying to find a way to shorten that. After breakfast, you have playtime with Mommy and about 20-30 min of pack-n-play time. We still run errands in the morning. This is also when we have play dates. You eat lunch, then play for a little bit longer. You nap between 1:30/ 2:00- 4:00/ 4:30. When you wake up, you play for a little bit longer, then eat dinner with me and Daddy. You play a little longer, then cuddle with Daddy before you go to bed at 8:30.

Favorite Moments
Mommy's Favorite: Seeing your face light up when you see her

  1. She's getting so big! We've had problems with Grace and her eating too- I've been told by local ladies that it's because of teething, but I'm not sure if that is medical or local folklore, ha!
